My profile

Hello everyone!

It´s not easy for me to present myself...but I will try!
I´m 31 years old, I was born in Portugal in a small town called Esmoriz, in the north of the country!
When I was 18 years old I went to Porto (in Portugal) to study economics in the University! I had a great time there: while I was studying I lived with some friends and I met lots of people!
After that I worked in a Bank firstly as a credit analist and after as an account manager for big companies.
Since one year I´m in Buenos Aires!

I like so many different things, probably because I´m geminis.....
I really love music (especially etnhic music and the mixture of many types). My lastest discovery (and love) is a group called "Nouvelle Vague"! I´m addicted to them!
I also stydied music for 11 years....During many times I sang in various chorus...and I even had a rock band! Crazy times!

I also like books and movies! It´s a great way to expand your vision!

More things I like: interior decoration, environment protection (specially the use of renewable sources of energy), dance, great food, the sea,.....and travelling!

I can say that I already know some countries: Turquie (Istambul is a great city), Spain, France (Bourdeax and Paris), London, Cuba, Dominican Republic, North Italy, Austria and now Argentine (a great country, so lovely and big)!

Well, right now I don´t remember nothing else....about me...

See you in class!

Teresa

Fabiana From Perú !!!

Hi mates!

I´m writting you from Lima. i´m giving a course here but I don´t forget you.
I send you a picture at Barranco neighborhood, a romantic place.
I´m there with the others two faculties of the course(They are from Spain and Colombia) and the local organizators in Perú. Woman that is in your left at the pictures is the switzerland manager of the foundation that support the course and Í'm practicing a lot of english with her.
See you next week !

Hellow All.
As I said thru Voxopop, I seldon go to the cinema. On weekends I rather like getting away from Baires but in the rest of the week I am a litte lazybones to to get out .
I prefer watching Dvds or Tv, however if I have to go because my wife's pressure is huge I enjoy going the theater ( teather catch me more than cinema).
Time ago I wached, The Pride and the Prejudice , a beautiful british film based on the novel writen by Jane Austen. It is an excellent description about the rules and moral in the british upper class families two centuries ago.
Most of the film was sitting in an old farm house placed on the beauty of the England landscape.
I do not tell you any more else just in case you will decide to watch it . By the way it is possible to buy the Dvd. here in BsAs.
I strongly recommend you to see it , additionally the language is great.
bye bye

About films

I don't go to the cinema very often. I do it when someone recomend me a film or when I think that there is something that worths...
The latest film I saw was "The secret of his eyes", a thriller directed by Juan José Campanella.
I really liked it! I'm not a lover of Argentinian films, but I have to admit that this is a very good one.
The story is set in Argentina, and it's about a man (Ricardo Darín) that has already retired as a court employee.
He wants to write a novel, a real story that had happened to him about 30 years before, more exactly in 1974. A misterious murder that has never been solved.
His decision makes him face sad episodes from the past and of course, he meets his impossible love (Soledad Villamil)that he kept in silence for a long time.
All the details are shown by flashbacks that take you to the '70, a dark part of our history, where the power and the silence were the main allies.
Apart from that, the story is told with a great sense of humour, despite the horrible crime and some shocking scenes.
On the other hand, there is a very well done setting and a fantastic wardrobe. The characters play their roles in an impeccable way. I don't adore Guillermo Francella, but in this film he plays the role of a lovely drunkard.
I really recomend it!

Cecilia.

Franklin's Letter by Cecilia

Dear Thomas,

I have been sent to England as a representative of the American Assembly in order to defend the inner issues of Pennsylvania.
As you may know, French forces were moving forward in our region and those days were crucial to get our freedom. At that moment, Edward Braddock, a British commander, was in the States to capture Fort Duquesne, a French fortification in western Pennsylvania. But the problem was that Braddock was given no horses or wagons, so I thought that if I helped him, he could defeat French forces. For that reason, I tried to persuade farmers to lend their horses and wagons to him and his men.
It was a very difficult task, basically because the farmers didn't trust us. Finally, I was able to negotiate with them; but unfortunately, things were wrong and Braddock was killed and about one thousand of his men, too.
I have written all my experiences in a book that I called "my quire book". It is very important for me to keep it safe, so I have decided to give it to you in order to transcribe it. I'm sure that you will do the best.
These documents are very important to me, not only as a proof of my political value to Great Britain, but the assembly's loyalties are on the right side.
My dream is to liberate our country and to contribute for a better nation for every single man of these valuable lands.
Yours sincerely,
Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin´s leter

(I promise that during the next week I will post my profile; Teresa)

Benjamin Franklin Thomas Birch
Oxford Street, 73 Garden Street, 43 B
456 London 456 London
England England

London, April the 22th 1757

Dear Thomas:

In such dangerous times I write you in the search of a secret and safe place that could guard some documents I have. I´ve been feeling unsafe lately because of a collection of letters I carry and that prove the efforts and dilligences I did in order to help General Edward Braddock. Eventhough I´ve been very carefuly, I´m sure that, sooner or later, someone will rob me in order to destroy this evidence. That´s why I beg you, dear friend, to copy them as soon as posible and keep them safe.
Shortly after arriving in London I received a letter sent by Mark Brown, the English General. In this letter he warned me that a conspiration had been made to incriminate me with the British authorities. In his opinion a group of French people were trying to spread the gossip that I had ignored General Braddock´s needs. He also explained to me that since I left Pennsylvania my biggest political opponent has been nagociating with the French army in exchange of new territories.
The reunions with the British government are passing a crucial moment and this lie could destroy my reputation and my life´s work.
I hope you could attend to my request. If so, I will be grateful for life. In an atachment to this letter, I send you a package containing the documents. After copying them, please send them back to me by express mail. The copies should be put in a secret and private place until needed.

Best regards,

Your friend Benjamin Franklin

My Profile (PART 1)

Well, I'm doing it at last! hahahah XD Here I go, enjoy me! ;)

I'm always playing with my name. 'ONE' sounds pretty similar to 'WAN', so I'm changing it all the time :P

I'm a 25 years old girl from the south of BA's suburbs. I was born in Quilmes and I grew up in Claypole and Rafael Calzada. After finishing High School I tried to get in UBA's Ph. D. career, but I hadn't any chance. The exams were so difficult! So I left my studies for later and I started to work hard.

Lately I realized that music is one of my passions. I love listening to music, everytime, everywhere. I'm even listening to it while I'm taking a shower hahahah XD Despite all this, It wasn't until this april that I took my first drum lesson. I wanted to since I was in HS, but my mom said she didn't want another musician in the family (my bro plays guitar and quite well, by the way... but he left his studies and she never forgave him for that). So I waited 10 years and now I'm very excited! :D Paul, my teacher, is a very kind, clever, understanding man. I admire him beacuse all the time, patience and comprehension he has with me (love ya, Paul! ^^) So it's been six months since I'm having my lessons and I can proudly say two thigs: first, I CAN play drums. Second, my teacher is a really good teacher after all.

As I already said, I love listening to music. My favourite bands are Metallica, Megadeth, PORK (is a local band from the south, more info at http://www.pork.com.ar/ / also available in English), Pantera, Machine Head, Guns n' Roses, Pearl Jam and so many others than the blog wouldn't be long enough to write about them! hahaha As long as it has a cool distorision, an excellent guitar solo, an amazing drummer and fit into heavy metal, thrash, new metal or hard rock categories, I'll like'em! ;)

(Pork)

However, I have a very formal job. I'm a phone operator in an international law firm and I'm making and taking phone calls from abroad. That's the reason why I decided to take a few English lessons at UBA's Language lab. I started at level 8 and now I'm at level 10 :D I hope I pass my exams in december. I'll got to study really really hard because I've been absent so many classes!
(to be continue)

MATIAS.- From Franklin to his buddy

Dear Thomas:
I'm wriring you because I need some help. I realise you are my best friend and the only one I can really trust.
These days have been terribly for me ,specially because some people want to kill me, you know? The point is I've written several important letters about France and they are absolutely valuable.
Please!!, could you copy them and keep them in the safest place you can imagine? I mean ,they can change the future of our nation.
I would be grateful if you could do it. By the way you will be always remembered in the United States history.
On the other hand ,I've finished my first odometer and I want to give it to you as a gift.I appreciate your help and advice. You are a great team-mate.
Fighting this war is very hard for me although sharing this time with you, lets me carry on.
Hugging you with best of regards,
Benjamin Button

P.S. Button is my real sirname ,though Franklin is the sirname of my uncle.(TOP SECRET)
P.S. 2 I'll never forget when you discovered the lighting rod, your support incredibly useful.

Second assignment: Franklin's letters

Last week, we read about Franklin's letters in class. It was an interesting article and all of us enjoyed it.

I'm asking you today to publish your writings connected with that article. It will be an interesting way to share opinions and points of view.

a gypsy soul

Friends.

It is hard for me to write about me , anyway I will try.

I was born in La Plata City, where I got my degree of engineer in 1969, then I married Maria Julia , we are still married , and we have 3 children.

We live in Baires since 1970.

In the middle of the seventies we lived in USA for a couple of years . I worked in the John Blizzar Research Center in the Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation devoted to the nuclear energy research.

We spent a marvellous time there with all my the family and in spite of having some offerings to stay there for ever , I decided ( against my wife´s opinion) to come back.

Perhaps the most importat desition in life that I had to make.

Fotunately we have gone several times to New Jersey , where we left many frieds, and a lot of affections and memories too.

I do not regret having return.

For professional reasons I had to travell for many different and beautiful countries not only in America but in Europe as well, however any time the plane lands in Baires I have the sensation of coming home.

José Marti the cuban poet wrote " Our wine is sour , but it is our wine" , perhaps this is the clue why I always came back despite my gypsy soul.

Now my next project is to spent a time in Brasil . At present I am studying his amazing history .

But before leaving I have to admit that now I am fiery tradding off with my family the terms of the trip.

Till here some aspects of my pleasure for travelling

Juan Manuel.

My Website Profile

I'm Cecilia, also known as "Chechu" :)
My complete name is María Cecilia, but I prefer to call my self "Cecilia" (the other way reminds me when I was a child and my parents shouted at me "Maria Cecilia!" every time I did a prank)
In general Internet profiles have some information that suppose to portrait you showing the most significant things...But you can lie about yourself! hehehehe!
I'm 32 years old, and for those who believe in Astrology, I'm an authentic "Leo".
I've heard that I look younger and sometimes people ask me what my secret is...
Now that I'm on my thirties that comment makes me feel better, but when I was an adolescent I hated it! Because everybody thought that I was the little sister of someone or I had to show my ID every time I went to a pub or a disco...
I was born in Pergamino, a place in the north of Buenos Aires province, 220 km away from Capital Federal.
I came here to study Communication Ciencies at UBA when I was 18. I suffered a lot the distance from my family and friends, but I got used to living in such a big city. Is not so bad, but sometimes I wonder What am I doing here, specially those days when everything goes wrong.

There are too many things that I like: I really like listening to music and I could say that my hobby is to sing, but I don't do it in public!
On the other side, I really enjoy traveling on my own. My first experience was 4 years ago when I decided to go to the North. I've met a lot of people from different parts of the world, and I saw amazing scenery.
For me is the best way of knowing the different cultures, besides it helps you to open your mind and if you keep in touch with the persons you've met then you probable will have the oportunity to visit them (I met a girl from Switzerland in Salta 4 years ago, and I had the pleasure of being with her two weeks ago!!!)
If I could I would travel every time I can!

The radio is another thing that I love. I rather listen to the radio than watch TV (you know I don't have a TV at home) and I know that some people think that I'm an odd person because I listen to AM radio instead of FM!!! By the way, I'm a radio producer and 2 persons and me have launched a site in Internet called Narrativa Radial, of course you can visit it whenever you want! http://narrativaradial.com/
I hope you enjoy it.
Well, that's pretty much than I've expected to write about me! Is it enough?
I would like to share a picture with you. It's me and my friend from Switzerland in a glacier in the Swiss Alps.
I'm really happy to have the possibility of being in this English group!
See you.
Cecilia.
